Recruitment
Staff Shortages
Generally, several countries have shortages of educated and skilled
workers. This shortfall in skilled, experienced workers underpins other
challenges such as keeping up with contract time-lines and expectations.
Preferred Status for Immigrants
Some Countries have further defined these resource shortages as having
a preferred status for migrants. This separatist determination of specific
positions elevates migrating people with the correct levels of education,
experience and skills to be able to settle in those countries.
This need for such migrants is a growing opportunity to other countries
with younger populations, provided they have people who have been willing
to study hard right into adult hood. Many of these people are high achievers
who have worked diligently while facing much adversity. They often find
meaningful employment wherever possible to finance their studies, adding
to their experiences and providing proof of a good attitude and work
attendance.
Pacific Island Nations
It can be contended quite clearly that many Pacific island nations are able
to provide such a resource, as they often have a high number of
well-educated and skilled people amongst their population. Another bonus
is that English is usually the second language of most pacific islanders,
and is generally well spoken and written.
Resource Pool
For instance, Tonga has a high rate of unemployment, with the bulk of
these 25 years and under. Many young persons work in jobs for little
monetary reward, their return is the training input they receive coupled with
the hope that one day they will have a chance to get paid employment. As
these persons are generally well educated, they provide a huge resource
for the replenishment of older workers who leave the country for
recruitment opportunities. In turn, these often older, new migrants have so
much to offer due to being experienced and skilled in their own work. Even
so, they in turn also become even more trained, working in their new land.
This scenario is very similar for many other Pacific Island nations, with a
large number of young people looking for work.
